“The most exciting aspect of the painting experience is the creative process itself:  that spontaneous flow of energy working through the artist, condensed into form.  Each one of my paintings is a momentary pause in the ongoing expression of who I am…”

I paint what inspires me the most--the world of nature and its ever-changing landscape in all seasons. Favorite subjects cover a wide range of interest from old farm buildings, hillsides, open meadows and mountain vistas of New England to the tropical waterways and marshlands of the South. I’ve also developed a series of colorful floral paintings, the Poppy Field Series, which features sweeping fields of colorful red-orange flowers and now numbers over 160 paintings.

Though my primary medium is soft pastel, I also work in acrylics but in a more abstract manner. My paintings are composites of many visual resources.  I paint both in the studio and outdoors, creating finished pieces from plein air color studies, sketches, photo references and more importantly, my imagination, which I believe produces paintings most expressive of an "inner landscape.”

Throughout my career, I’ve participated in many regional and national shows and plein air events, where I’ve received awards, as well as from international art magazine competitions including The Artist’s Magazine and Pastel Journal.  In addition to my affiliation with Vermont Pastel Society, I hold Signature membership with Connecticut Pastel Society, Pastel Society of America, and Pastel Society of Tampa Bay.  Galleries in New England and Florida represent my artwork.
